Aussiedoodle Puppies in Indiana
At Ramsey Creek Kennels in Lexington, Indiana, we raise Aussiedoodle puppies. The Aussiedoodle crosses the clever, energetic Australian Shepherd with the Poodle, producing a striking, highly trainable dog for active families.
What Is an Aussiedoodle?
An Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. The cross grew popular in the 1990s among families who wanted the Australian Shepherd's intelligence and drive with a lower-shedding coat. Because they are a crossbreed, each puppy varies with its parents.
How Big Do Aussiedoodles Get?
- Mini (Miniature Poodle parent): about 12–18 inches and 15–35 pounds
- Standard (Standard Poodle parent): about 19–25 inches and 45–70 pounds
- Life expectancy: about 10–13 years
Coat, Colors and Grooming
Aussiedoodles come in eye-catching colors from the Australian Shepherd side, including blue merle, red merle, black tri and red tri, often with striking eyes. Coats range from wavy to curly and shed lightly, but no dog is completely hypoallergenic. Brush several times a week and plan on a trim every couple of months.
Temperament
Aussiedoodles are affectionate, playful and deeply attached to their people. They are usually great with children and other dogs, and their herding heritage makes them attentive and quick to learn what the family is doing.
Training and Exercise
This is a smart, high-energy dog that needs a job. Daily walks plus play, training games or dog sports keep an Aussiedoodle happy; a bored one will invent work of its own. They learn quickly with positive, consistent training and do best with a family that enjoys being active.
