Cockapoo Puppies in Indiana
At Ramsey Creek Kennels in Lexington, Indiana, we raise Cockapoo puppies. A cross between the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle, the Cockapoo is cheerful, affectionate and one of the most family-friendly small dogs there is.
What Is a Cockapoo?
A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, usually a Miniature or Toy Poodle. The cross dates back to the 1950s in the United States and has been popular ever since, thanks to its friendly nature and low-shedding coat.
How Big Do Cockapoos Get?
- Height: about 10–14 inches
- Weight: about 10–20 pounds
- Life expectancy: about 12–15 years
Coat, Colors and Shedding
Cockapoos have soft, wavy to curly coats in many colors, including cream, apricot, red, chocolate, black and parti. Most shed very little, though shedding varies from dog to dog and no dog is completely hypoallergenic. Brush several times a week to prevent mats and plan on a groom every six to eight weeks. Check and dry their drop ears regularly.
Temperament
Cockapoos are friendly, intelligent and adaptable, at home with families, couples, retirees and apartment dwellers alike. They love company and are usually good with children and other pets.
Training and Exercise
Cockapoos are quick learners and respond beautifully to positive training. Moderate exercise suits them: a daily walk and some playtime keep them happy and well-behaved.
